The 2025 National Standards Planning Project Launch Conference for the Steel Industry was successfully held.
On August 6, 2024, coinciding with the 14th China International Steel Conference, the launch meeting for the 2025 National Steel Industry Standard Plan projects was held in Shanghai. This meeting, as a key component of the first International Steel Week, was guided by the China Iron and Steel Association and hosted by the Metallurgical Industry Information and Standards Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as the "Information Standards Institute"), jointly undertaken by the National Steel Standardization Technical Committee, the National Iron Ore and Direct Reduced Iron Standardization Technical Committee, and the National Pig Iron and Ferroalloy Standardization Technical Committee. Iron Ore and Direct Reduced Iron Standardization Technical Committee, the National Pig Iron and Ferroalloy Standardization Technical Committee.
Jiang Wei, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President and Secretary-General of the China Iron and Steel Association, and Chairman of the National Steel Standardization Technical Committee; and Zhang Longqiang, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Iron and Steel Association, Party Secretary and President of the Information Standards Institute, and Vice Chairman of the National Steel, Pig Iron and Ferroalloy Standardization Technical Committee, attended the meeting. More than 120 enterprises and over 200 representatives from the main leading and participating units of the 72 national standard projects planned for 2025 participated in the meeting. Zhao Hui, Vice President of the Information Standards Institute, and Dai Qiang, Assistant President, presided over the meeting respectively.
Jiang Wei congratulated the launch meeting and expressed gratitude to the relevant competent authorities, experts involved in the formulation and revision of standards, enterprise representatives, and industry colleagues for their long-term support of the standardization work in the steel industry. He also affirmed the work done by the Information Standards Institute as the secretariat of the National Steel, Iron Ore and Direct Reduced Iron, Pig Iron and Ferroalloy Standardization Technical Committees.
In his address, Jiang Wei pointed out that standards are not only the technical foundation for economic activities and social development, but also a key component of the country's fundamental institutional framework. The steel industry has actively responded to the new demands for high-end, intelligent, green, and international development, and has made significant achievements in its solid standardization work.
Regarding the launch of the 72 national standard plan projects, Jiang Wei put forward three points: First, continuously optimize the new standard system, actively explore and strive to build a sustainable steel standard system, and promote upstream and downstream linkage and industrial chain synergy; second, highlight innovation-driven development, steadily improve the technical content and value of standards, promote the timely transformation of scientific and technological innovation achievements into standards, promote industry technological progress and product upgrades, and form a good situation where scientific and technological innovation and standardization promote and develop each other; third, deepen open cooperation, continuously improve the level of international standardization, promote the steel industry's all-round and multi-field participation in international standardization work, actively cultivate and absorb high-level international standardization talents who are proficient in international rules, professional technology, and good at communication and exchange, and consolidate the foundation of the talent team. He hoped that all parties would complete the standard formulation and revision tasks with high quality and efficiency, and contribute more to the high-quality development of the steel industry.
Zhang Longqiang, on behalf of the host unit of the meeting, expressed gratitude to the leaders and industry colleagues at all levels who have long supported the standardization work.
In his address, Zhang Longqiang stated that the Information Standards Institute, as the secretariat of the three standardization technical committees for steel, iron ore and direct reduced iron, and pig iron and ferroalloys, has always been committed to promoting steel standardization work to serve high-quality industrial development. Especially since the "14th Five-Year Plan", guided by the "National Standardization Development Outline", it has been based on industrial policies and industry development needs, accelerating the speed of standard development, improving the quality of development, and giving full play to the effectiveness of standardization work. Facing the "15th Five-Year Plan", the Information Standards Institute will focus on high-end, intelligent, green, and international development, and will focus on the following four aspects: First, accelerate the supply of high-quality standards, strengthen industry research and technological tracking in response to the new requirements brought about by the transformation and upgrading and demand updates of the steel industry, and further improve the efficiency and quality of standard development. Second, deepen industrial chain synergy, focus on key links, establish standardization coordination mechanisms, and widely link upstream and downstream to jointly develop and implement key standards. Third, strengthen the implementation and application of standards, use certification and testing as a lever, build a "high-standard leadership—strict certification implementation—full chain synergy" system, dynamically track and evaluate the implementation effects of standards, and reversely optimize the content of standards, so that the implementation benefits of standards are fully reflected. Fourth, systematically improve internationalization capabilities, continue to deepen international exchanges and cooperation, do a good job in systematic planning, promote the coordinated development of domestic and international standardization, continuously promote the internationalization of Chinese standards, and enhance the influence of Chinese standards.
These 72 national standard projects cover multiple fields and are an important cornerstone for the industry to move towards higher levels of development. It is hoped that participants will ensure that the projects are completed on schedule and with quality, and the Information Standards Institute will do its utmost to provide organizational coordination and service support.
